Revell's King Tiger finished

Here it is, my second tank (see photos below).  There are some things not quite right, the rusted spare track links are too rusted (orange) and the chipping is probably way over done for a machine that had a pretty short shelf life but, I am pleased with it.  At the end of the day that is what really counts.  I do find that building for a magazine or even more so, for a commission, there is considerable pressure to build for the customer be that an editor, the readership or person who will receive the model in the post.  There is a danger that this will make a project a chore, the answer is to pick projects you will enjoy doing thus keeping up the enthusiasm.  The pressure (often self induced) to produce something to another's standard can lead to burn out.

Welcome to my blog.

Hello, welcome to my blog.  Here I will blah on about what is going on model wise in the workshop, or more accurately the kitchen.  My aim is to show the odd in progress model, let you know what I intend to do next and if you're interested give you sneak previews on future magazine articles that I am writing.

Here we go then.  I have 2 models on the go at the moment, Italeri's new Ju 87B Stuka in 1:48 and Revell's King Tiger in 1:72.

Stuka: - So far this has been a kit of 2 halves.  I love the engine and the cockpit detail, they are the equal of any resin you may get out there but I am disappointed with the fineness of the airframe and it's fit, specifically the wing to fuselage join.  Much elbow grease has been expended which is a bummer as I used almost a whole tin on the PCM Hurricane I built a while ago!  This Stuka will be published in Scale Aircraft Modelling magazine.

King Tiger - Well, it's a little tank and I've only just started.  I have built a tank before, the Hobby Boss KV-1 in 1:48, that model will appear in Model Military International very soon.  I've only glued the wheels together, primed them and painted them so I'm not too far along.

OK, that's it for now.  I'm still getting to grips with this blogging thing so hopefully the layout etc will improve as I go along and pick up tips and techniques.  Until the next time.....
